Larisa was baptized on July 10, 2010 in Krasnodar. She is in her
mid 40’s and has 6 children, two married who live in Moscow but no
grandchildren yet—expecting one in 7 months. She has a 7 and
a 4 year old and, we think of how the lives of these two girls will
change because of the choices their mother made recently.
The next in age to them is 16 years old—a boy. Larisa met Sergei
(who is from Ukraine) online and started chatting with him.
He is in his early 50’s and has 3 children (don’t know ages).
He has been a member since 2002. He seems like a fine stable man.
He introduced her to the church and taught her about it.
She decided to take the lessons and so our mission got a
referral on her a month ago. The rest is history. We spoke
at the baptismal service, and they asked Elder Patterson to
participate in her confirmation.

Dima, 24 years old, was talking to a friend one day and was
saying how disappointed he was in the way most Russian men
act with so much drinking, smoking, etc. His friend told him he
knew of a group in Russia who didn't do things like that, so he
came to church a month ago. When he walked into church he
said everyone looked familiar and it felt like home. The sister
missionaries taught him and he was baptized on July 17, 2010
in Krasnodar. He has been in our home for FHE, and we have
sat in on some of his lessons. He is a choice spirit who didn't
want to be in the world and is so happy that he has found the
restored gospel of Jesus Christ.
i love that you guys are finding people and enjoying your mission. i want to come over and hang out with you...and speak some russian.....maybe next summer...
