KRASNODAR

Krasnodar is in the Kuban Region named after the Kuban River that runs through the city.  This area is the "bread basket" of Russian, producing most of their vegetables, fruits and various crops.  It is 89 feet above sea level and is 50 miles from the Black Sea.  The current population is 900,000.  The transit system includes Tramvi (electric buses on tracks), buses, marshukas (vans), trolly buses and the train. We travel mostly  on the Tramvi and walk whenever we are out and about.

The Russian people seem to get along very well.  Most don't like eye contact, especially men.  During the Soviet era most people kept to themselves and were afraid to say much to anyone but their closest comrads.  "Big Brother" had a real meaning during those years.
