Our Fabulous Translator

Sasha is our right-hand man here on our mission in Russia.  He keeps us on the right track, translates everything we do for either Humanitarian things or ecclesiastical duties.  We could not survive without him.  He purchases tickets for us on trains, orders taxis for us, makes phone calls, and even translates for us via phone when we get stuck in the store or somewhere else and can't make people understand us.

One day at church he translated from 8 am until 7 pm straight without a stop.  He ends up using twice the energy as we do because he has to translate English to Russian and then Russian to English.

Sasha is 28 years old, a native of Krasnodar, and a returned missionary having served in the Moscow mission.  He has a mother and two sisters.  He serves as Executive Secretary here in our branch.  Sasha has the unique ability to translate simultaneously word for word as someone is speaking and he is translating for you.  We are learning the fine art of speaking with an interpretor.

We have a video of him talking but it would not upload. He has absolutely no accent at all and understands even the slang and inuendos of English. He lived in Texas for a year to receive medical treatment for his hip prior to his mission.
